Join Primitive Painters at Paradise Palms for Rubber Soul, an evening of rubber stamp making and block printing.
Since 300 BC man has been leaving his personal mark on the world, with seals and prints representing name, family, education, belief and business. The oldest recorded form being that of hand prints made by clay impressions onto paper. And more commonly seen in East Asia as a traditional form of signature, still used by banks and the postal service as identification.
In this workshop, with tools, material and guidance from Charlie, illustrator of Liberty & Bread, create your own personal seal and series of three stamps. Your stamps can be both illustrative and typographic and represent your initials, name, portrait and objects significant to you, be that an image of a cup of coffee, a pizza slice, your favorite emoji or other symbol. We will transfer your design to rubber, to carve by hand and create a stamp to then test out and after takeaway home.
