Culture belongs to us all! Find out how anyone can get involved in this year's Fun Palaces weekend, 7 & 8 October 2017, where everyone is an artist and everyone a scientist. Change the world with radical fun!

A Fun Palace is a free, local event using arts and science to celebrate each unique community and the skills, talents and interests of those who live there. Fun Palaces Scotland over the last few years have included:

Tattoo art, pin-hole camera and felt-making workshops in Fife Libraries
A science and crafting lab in a Leith shopping centre
An artist and Edinburgh universities collaboration «Curiosity Forest» installation
An Alice-In-Wonderland book-themed Mad Hatters event in Wigtown

Last year, there were 292 Fun Palaces worldwide with 4800 people involved in making them and over 124,000 people participating. People gathered to make and share arts, sciences, learning, games and have FUN — this workshop is your chance to find out how to get involved. You don’t need to be an expert in anything to make a Fun Palace — you just need to want to make something happen (however tiny) with and for the people that live around you.

We will be sharing the previous Fun Palaces of the local Fife Libraries from last year & current plans for this one!

The workshop will also share the work of the Fun Palaces Scotland's Ambassador, Lewis Hou, who along with four other ambassadors across the UK, funders and cultural researchers, is undertaking a three year action-research project looking at best practice, developing collaborations and recording local challenges in community-led arts and science engagement across Scotland and interested in developing new partnerships in Fife.

This workshop is for you if:
You want to find out more about Fun Palaces
You have never been involved in organising anything before but want to give it a try
OR
You're already involved in arts/science/culture in Fife but interested in new collaborations, working with more and/or different grassroot communities or getting involved in action research
You have access to a cultural venue who might want people to use your space in new ways
You've got an idea for an event and want to see how to make it happen
You would like to meet other people/organisations doing creative work in Fife across arts, science & other cultural work
None of the above, but you are curious!

“Loved meeting so many other creatives within our area and realising that we can do whatever we want — the world's our oyster!!” 2015 workshop participant
