We are delighted to announce that Duncan Gray will be our next guest.
Duncan Gray has been manning the decks for more than two decades, from humble beginnings as resident DJ in a local Jazz club to full Live shows in the 90's and 00's. Has shared the bill with many top names over the years and played all over Europe and the US. After a musical hiatus DG returned to DJ work in 2014 on the back of setting up the tici taci label, and has become a popular fixture in the ever growing slow-mo scene, playing gigs in Spain, France, Germany, Australia, Albania, the UK and Ireland in the last 12 months. Strictly non laptop — DJ sets have the old school feel of an experienced man working the one and twos.
The Weatherall connection
DG and AW have known each other for many years, but for a long time Duncan was more closely associated with Andrew's brother Ian during their time as Sons of Slough. SOS were a formidable Live experience from 1997 through to 2005 — holding a residency at London's infamous Turnmills and sharing the bill with the biggest names of the era. SOS released on several labels including Skint before settling on Billy Nasty's Electrix imprint for an album release in 2004.
In 2013, Andrew was instrumental in setting up the tici taci label with Duncan — taking time out to help with distribution contacts and track selection. His support of the label at ALFOS parties has been invaluable. It would be a rare ALFOS that did not feature 3 tici taci or DG tracks (in Andrew's estimation). Since then Duncan has played guitar on a number of Andrew's remixes (including Moby and one for Julian Cope), and the Guvnor has returned the favour by releasing a 4 track EP of Duncan's tracks on his exclusive Bird Scarer imprint — which sold out within 2 weeks of release. Friends or not, anyone who knows Andrew knows he doesn't play a mate's tune as a favour, let alone every time he plays out.
Thank you Katy Morton of Perspiration Productions for making this happening happen x
