WEEKEND & DAY TICKETS NOW ON SALE!
Glasgow Hula Hoop are proud to present the Scottish Hula Hoop Convention (SHH!), taking place on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th April 2018. We have international hula hoop talent coming to teach and some friends and favourite teachers returning.
This year the convention takes place in Edinburgh, returning to last year’s much-loved venue Dancebase (Grassmarket).
Announced so far:
C-SECTION (aka CHRIS GOGLER)
C-Section is a Hoop artist originally from Adelaide, Australia. With a background and some formal training in ballet and contemporary dance, Chris stumbled across hooping some number of years ago and has been hooked ever since. C-Section now lives in Berlin and has taught at Hooplaland, the German Hoop Convention, Rendez v’Hoop SWHOOP, Manchester Hoop Congress, Heart and Hoop Dance retreat, Hooptal and the European Juggling Convention.
He is interested in the intersection between dance, elegance, performance and hoop tricks and hoop tech.
Federica Pennetta is an Italian hula hoop and aerial hoop performer. If her creativity needs to explode, it must necessarily come out in the form of a circle!
She is one of the founders of “The Circus Gang”, a jugglers group whose training and creation activities are based in Pisa, Italy. With the group Federica regularly performs on stages and street shows and also actively teaches workshops for children and adults throughout Italy and Europe.
Jo Mondy started hooping in Australia in 2007 and her love of the hoop encouraged her to pack in her day job, get her hoop teacher training certification and start her company LiveLoveHoop. She moved to the UK in 2010 and has since taught thousands of students how to hula hoop and built a strong and vibrant local hoop community in Brighton, England (which won Hoop Community of the year in 2013). She is at the forefront of the UK and international hoop scene, including Hoop Camp Retreat California, UK Hoop Gathering, SWHOOP, German Hoop Convention, Swiss Hoop Convention, Spanish Hoop Holiday & Manchester Hoop Congress.
Gail O’Brien is a dynamic and technical contemporary hoop dancer and a renowned hoop teacher based in the UK. She has been voted both International Female Hooper of the Year and Hoop Instructor of the year in the Hooping.org awards. Gail has performed and taught extensively in the last 10 years at events including Spin Summit, SWHoop, HoopCamp, European Juggling Convention, Brighton Flow Fest and UK Hoop Gatherings. She also runs the annual Manchester Hoop Congress.
