Join us on Saturday 14th October for an exploration of traditional Moldovan food heritage through menu and conversation.
For many people who live and travel abroad traditional food and celebratory meals are often something we miss the most and seek to share with new friends. Yet the significance we place on our food heritage to our identity is often only apparent after leaving the motherland. So how would it make us feel if we were to return and witness its increasing decline?
This summer I (Sorina) ventured back to visit my family in the Moldovan region of Romania and couldn’t wait to enjoy the long list of dishes I had been missing. What I experienced was a wide range of emotions, tastes and opinions about the beauty of Romanian cuisine and the growing loss of traditional food and farming practices as new generations like myself seek opportunities abroad.
This evening seeks to celebrate the cultural heritage of food in Romania through a 3 course meal, talks and discussion.
The event costs £22pp which includes a 3 course traditional meal, plenty of samples and a glass of Romanian wine. A vegetarian option will be available if notified by 11th October.
