Jenny's students can say it better than her...! Catherine has been attending class regularly for one year, and was a complete beginner when she started:
«I was a complete newbie to yoga when I started attending Jenny's Wednesday night Yoga Foundations class a year ago and now also attend Yoga Therapeutics on a Monday night. It's the best answer I've ever found to combating the Monday blues!
I can feel that I am both physically and mentally stronger since I started yoga. I find learning what my body can and can't (yet) do completely fascinating and this is very much thanks to Jenny's „don't judge, just notice“ mantra. I now try to apply this approach outside of yoga too and, as someone who does a lot of worrying, it's been really insightful to discover that I can give myself a bit less of a hard time!
I've never felt out of place or out of my depth in class and have come to understand that no two bodies are the same and we all look to get something different from yoga on any given day. Jenny's classes are a wonderful opportunity to be challenged, relaxed, nurtured, enlightened, or all of the above! I always leave class knowing that I what I took from yoga that day was exactly what I needed.
I can't imagine a yoga-less life now!» <3
— MORE INFO
Yoga, whilst simple in theory and sweet in its natural flow, has many key foundational aspects and seeds that must be planted, learned and understood, then assimilated and rooted down into our practice as second nature, for the deep benefits of this total mind-body practice to blossom.
This 6-week course will weave together all the threads of a yoga practice — the postures, the breath, the philosophy behind the physical practice, and understanding how it all fits together — introducing yoga as a complete concept and building this information and practice over 6 weeks, allowing students to fully understand and immerse themself in the complete practice of yoga. For this reason, it is suitable for anyone including those who have been practicing in classes regularly for months.
It will cover all foundational aspects of yoga, including alligntment of key asanas (postures) such as downward dog, upward dog, and simply sitting with correct posture in all seated postures, breath and breath-based movement, pranyama (breathing exercises), the philosophy of yoga and how it appears in our physical practice, meditation and relaxation. As well as decoding some of the mystifying sanskrit terms used frequently through classes like «drishti», «prana», «savasana» and «namaste».
