An annual tradition that's been going on for more than 10 years now… We all work extra hours in December and over the festive period, we get to work for other people's Christmas parties; we get to work till early morning due to the extended licence so we never have a chance to have a Christmas party of our own. This is why we have X-Mess in January…
On this night, all acts on the stage will involve current or former members of staff, or people we like who've particularly helped us out in the past year / over the years.
X-Mess 2018 may (or may not) feature in no particular order (and the list isn't exhaustive) the following Good Cunts — - Shock & Awe opening the festivities: veterans of X-Mess, the only seasoned X-Messers who could make it this year after hosemox and the band formerly known as The Incendiary Bats found themselves unable to play.
— Chris Glen Music who's been helping us on the sound occasionally.
— the mysterious Mr Indeed: our newest recruit on the bar.
— The Mayans featuring some of Harry and the Hendersons, and more specifically our ex-bartender Gavin.
— Luna Delirious aka Amy who also used to work behind the bar and organise events at Henry's.
— Duncan Jones who's helped us out a few times and embodies the spirit of good cunts.
— our resident poet JA Sutherland.
— and obviously our resident band Joy & Struggle: with our barmaid Niamh on vocals, our sound engineer Alasdair on guitar, and ex-bartender / promoter / host of the jam sessions Alex Palmer on drums.
Entry is free (donations welcome) and we'll have yet more Panettone and possibly more delicacies to share (feel free to bring food that can easily be share with everyone).
People with a membership card will get something else for free, and people who've supported us a lot but don't have a membership card yet will either be offered one for free or something else if you prefer, just ask for the options as you come in.
