5 Crichton's Close, EH8 8DT Edinburgh, United Kingdom
John Burnside is a poet whose work is beloved as it is rewarded; he is one of two poets to win both the Forward Prize and T.S. Eliot Prize for the same collection (Sean O'Brien, the other poet, is appearing at the SPL earlier in the season). A prolific poet, novelist and memoirist, Easy Morning Poems takes a look at a selection of work drawn from his 15 collections over a quarter-century.
Easy Morning Poems reading group sessions take one poet and a clutch of his or her poems. It's suitable for people who both know the poet under discussion well or known nothing about them. The sessions are relaxed, comfortable and an excellent way to start the weekend.
Please note: the poet himself will not be there in present, only his words.
The SPL is fully accessible, with a ground-floor entrance and a lift that accesses all three floors. There is one adapted toilet on the basement floor. Guide and hearing dogs are welcome. A portable audio loop is available for single user; if you need a multi-user loops system, please let us know as far as possible in advance.
