5 Crichton's Close, EH8 8DT Edinburgh, United Kingdom
Born in Hull in 1952, Sean O'Brien is one of only two poets (the other being John Burnside, also reading at the SPL this spring) to have won both the T.S. Eliot Prize and the Forward Poetry Prize for the same collection of poems. The SPL is delighted to play host to a reading by O'Brien, during which he will preview poems from his new collection, Europa. The reading is part of the University of Edinburgh's Visiting Writers Series, but is open to everyone. After the reading, there will be chance to ask Sean about his writing practice, with the Q and A chaired by poet and novelist Claire Askew.
