Adam Sutherland Music recently named ‘Composer of the Year’ at the 2017 Scots Music Trad Awards, is joined by his band John Paul Speirs (bass), Iain Copeland (drums) John Somerville Music (accordion) Marc Clement (guitar) and Hamish Napier Music (keys).
Adam (Treacherous Orchestra/Session A9/Croft No 5) is one of Scotland’s most singularly gifted fiddlers. Entering a new phase of creativity, Adam launched his much awaited second album 'Some other land' at Celtic Connections 2018. As with his first album Squall, acclaimed for novelty and experimentation, all tunes are self-penned and in this case mostly gleaned from dreams.
Never afraid to wear his influences on his sleeve, Adam's unique arrangements range from frenetic Scottish reels, through early 20th century jazz shapes to subtly Balkan diversions. This six-piece combine to deliver an evening of musicality that ranges from heart-warming to heart-rending, spine-tingling to spellbinding.
