BRAND NEW 8 week Middle Eastern Drumming course with Ali Rahmani!
You will learn and develop your skills in playing Middle Eastern Instruments such as the Darbuka, Tabla and Daf.
Supported by the regular weekly enthusiastic and uplifting energy of your fellow drumming circle friends, Ali will give you full and clear teaching instructions via a number of learning medium, breaking everything down before gradually building it up including the simplest to the more intricate of Middle Eastern rhythms. By the end of the course you will be able to read musical notation, understand the musical theory behind middle eastern percussion and correctly identify a number of middle eastern rhythms with the confidence and healthy techniques to be able to play them yourself!
Ali is an Iranian Percussionist who has played Middle Eastern percussion instruments such as Tombak, Darbuka and Daf since childhood and trained with top percussion masters in Iran.
Before recently moving to Scotland, Ali has performed in many different countries such as Iran, Italy and the UK. As well as performing his talents for appreciative audiences, he conducts various rhythm workshops for all levels of students, from beginners to professionals. He also has vase experience of accompanying various bellydancers in their performances.
This class is for absolute beginners through to experienced drummers who wish to enjoy practice and play as part of a sociable group. If you have your own drum, do bring it, preferably a darbuka but a djembe or similar is also very welcome. An instrument may be borrowed during the class by prior arrangement. Get in touch in advance should you need to borrow an instrument.
Please arrive around 10-15 minutes before your class is due to start.
