Jamie Sutherland is perhaps best known for his work fronting esteemed Edinburgh collective Broken Records — an enigmatic group from the capital merging folk, country and bombastic, anthemic alt rock to thrilling effect and who last year celebrated their tenth anniversary.
This year marked the release of that band's acclaimed fourth record together What We Might Know, culminating in a rapturous return to the Summerhall for a hometown ruckus for the ages. However, this year is also notable for BR fans in another very special way as it sees the release of Sutherland's debut solo record, Bruise.
Recorded by Meursault's Neil Pennycook at Song, by Toad's Happiness Hotel in Leith and aided by numerous talented pal...s (including members of Meursault, Eagleowl, Broken Records and Siobhan Wilson), Bruise sees Jamie take us on a different trip altogether, and the views are just as sweet.
Previewing material from the album which will be released later this year, Jamie will be kicking off a stacked month of shows at Leith Depot with a cosy headline show upstairs, joined by a few pals and supported by local singer/songwriter Josh Fuchs.
This is going to be a super special night, for fans and potential new converts alike, so get in quick!
